Sunset Beach NC is the last remaining beach in NC (and as far as I know, America) where the only way on and off of the island is via a one lane floating bridge. In a few years the bridge will be replaced by a concrete flyover bridge that will take residents and vacationers across the intercoastal waterway any time they feel like coming or going. The romance of the quaint bridge will be gone. Hopefully, the island will stay the same after the new bridge is completed, but progress invites progree and that may mean restraunts, shops, gas stations and even worse... a 7-11. I hope not. But until then we will enjoy the bridge and the privacy that comes along with it.
